Kathleen Hanson, M.A.,L.P.
Kathleen earned her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN in 1988, and has been a licensed psychologist since 1990. Her counseling career began in 1978, following completion of undergraduate work in criminal Justice at Winona State University. She counseled teens and families with legal and substance abuse problems for 10 years in residential and outpatient settings. After completing her Masters Degree, she joined the mental health department of Aspen Medical Group, where she provided psychotherapy for teens and adults until May, 2013. In addition to her general mental health practice, she developed special interests and skills in helping patients cope with trauma, domestic violence, addiction recovery, workplace stress, and the family conflicts that can be a part of all phases of life. Her clinical experience has been personally enriched with understanding and compassion , as three generations in her own family have experienced strokes, dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease.She is a member of the Minnesota Psychological Association and the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
